What is this document used for?

A General Power of Attorney formally authorizes a trusted adult (designated as your Agent or Attorney-in-Fact) to act and make financial and estate decisions on your behalf before banks, government agencies, and businesses.

Powers and transactions covered:
  • Management, opening, and handling of bank accounts and investments.
  • Signing contracts, paying debts, leases, and mortgages.
  • Purchase, sale, leasing, or management of personal and real property.
  • Handling tax matters and business operations within the State of Arizona.

Parental Power of Attorney

(Temporary Authority Over Minor Children)

What is this document used for?

A Parental Power of Attorney allows parents or legal guardians to temporarily delegate parental authority over minor children to another responsible adult (such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, or close relatives) for planned absences or emergencies.

Common situations for use:
  • Authorizing emergency medical care, pediatric consultations, and medications.
  • School enrollment, academic tutoring, and routine educational administration.
  • Formal child care during parental business trips or unexpected emergencies.
  • Temporary stays with relatives while parents resolve unforeseen situations.

Statutory Time Limit (A.R.S. § 14-5104): Valid for a maximum statutory period of 6 months (or up to 1 year for active military personnel). It does NOT transfer permanent legal custody or establish judicial guardianship (Guardianship). Requires signature before a Notary Public.
